The purpose of this blog is to show you the differences between traditional and modern styles of wedding photography and to explain how these differences will effect your wedding day. These two styles are not mutually exclusive so the differences between them do not have to be as pronounced as they will appear in this article but to give you more of a choice I will make the differences seem greater.

With a traditional approach to wedding photography you will be much more aware of your photographer throughout your day as the majority of the pictures will be posed and will be taken using a flash. This will make the pictures look like they were taken in a studio with your venue as the backdrop. The experience will be much more like a fashion shoot as people will be carefully positioned for the portraits. For larger groups it will be necessary to use portable portrait lights with umbrella attachments which will make the photographic experience much more formal.

With both the traditional and modern styles of wedding photography I ask the couple for a list of group portraits to make sure that we don’t miss a crucial picture. With a traditional wedding this list of pictures can be extended to other pictures taken during the day such as bride on her own with the bouquet at the door of the house, bride with Dad at home and in the car etc. This way I can make sure that there is a posed picture for every portrait that you want.

This does not mean that I will only take the pictures that are on our agreed list and that every picture that I take will be done using a flash. What it does guarantee is that every picture that is particularly important to you, will be done in this way.

In contrast to the posed method of traditional wedding photography is modern wedding photography which frees you to fully enjoy your day with your guests. Using this approach the photographer is an unobtrusive observer of your wedding day capturing your emotions as they emerge. The photographer will still be conscious of taking certain classic pictures but he will and take them naturally without the use of a flash so that there is no disruption to your enjoyment of your day. If this is not possible then he will engineer a result to make sure that you receive the best possible memory of your wedding day.

The more you enjoy yourself the greater the difference between modern and traditional wedding photography as there will be no need for the photographer to disrupt your enjoyment for some pictures. If people are freely moving and laughing and joking with each other then the photographer can easily remain unnoticed to enable him to naturally capture the key moments of the day.

I hope that you now see the differences between traditional and modern wedding photography. There will be overlap in both directions as the people who opt for the modern packages often want some formal group portraits and the people who want traditional wedding photography also want some spontaneous pictures to remember key moments. I hope that this will enable you and your photographer to gain a greater understanding of the type of wedding pictures that you are looking for. If the photographer has a clear understanding of what you want then he can make sure that he delivers your pictures taken in the way you wanted.

Pictures that promote your business

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_58ojGceQ59s/R8bZgtWlgzI/AAAAAAAAADM/CL7ixzOKKu0/s400/branding_photography_08.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5172060378034963250" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_58ojGceQ59s/R8bZX9WlgyI/AAAAAAAAADE/n5GgOP1-I1c/s400/branding_photography_01.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5172060227711107874" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_58ojGceQ59s/R8bZSdWlgxI/AAAAAAAAAC8/05WdXEArjRE/s400/branding_photography_11.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5172060133221827346" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_58ojGceQ59s/R8bZKNWlgwI/AAAAAAAAAC0/j9pP4pbCCzg/s400/branding_photography_12.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5172059991487906562" />
Cambridge commercial photography

The promotion of your business with pictures is only possible with images that communicate ideas.

Pictures are immediate and eye catching. It is pictures that stop people flicking through a magazine to read the headline and hopefully the rest of the article. For this reason alone striking pictures that communicate what your business does and how it does it are crucial for the promotion of your business.

This blog will detail the promotion of the services of Leisure Support Services in pictures. Leisure Support Services provide cleaning, maintenance and security for different sporting venues. To show what they do I wanted to show their staff working in the different venues that they cover. To show how they achieve their results I wanted to make their business personal. To clean the Oval at the end of a test match requires a team of people so it is easy to think of them collectively as Leisure Support Services. What I wanted to do was to bring it back to the individuals who do the work. To show the attention that they give to what they do. This personal promotion of Leisure Support Services makes it easier for the viewer or prospective client to relate to what they do.

To emphasise the Leisure Support Servies brand I wanted to show the staff in clean pressed uniforms. I took several different types of picture of the same person performing the same task, some to show what he was doing and others to show how he did it. For example to show the electrical maintenance that they do I took one picture that clearly showed the electrical cupboard. To show that some work is being done you can see a hand and screwdriver but this is the limit of the human involvement in this picture. For this reason it is not a picture that people can easily relate to as it only details what they do. I then took another picture where you can see the face of the workman making the electrical repairs. It is the combination of the detailed picture showing what they do and the personal picture showing how they do it that promotes Leisure Support Services in pictures.

To show the experience of Leisure Support Services I wanted some pictures that were very obviously taken at the Oval. To do this I photographed their staff cleaning some conference rooms overlooking the members stand. This makes the pictures immediately striking. Your eye is drawn to what you recognize, the Oval stand, and you can see their staff demonstrating their brand message.

You can see also see in these pictures that they were taken on a match day. This is to show that even with the added time pressure that comes with a match day that Leisure Support Services can deliver what they promise quickly and professionally.

These pictures were supplied to Leisure Support Services on CD which is what you would expect from a photography business. However Angle Photographic is more than a photography business. Our designers can use our pictures to their fullest potential to promote your business in bespoke brochures. They can work within the constraints of your brand colours and fonts to produce a bespoke brochure that eloquently and effectively promotes your business.

Making black plastic look good

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_58ojGceQ59s/R7vy_NWlgtI/AAAAAAAAACc/MSKJb39RkBQ/s400/brochure_photography_10.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5168992165067850450" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_58ojGceQ59s/R7vy6dWlgsI/AAAAAAAAACU/BFMxcHloOSI/s400/brochure_photography_13.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5168992083463471810" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_58ojGceQ59s/R7vyztWlgrI/AAAAAAAAACM/4VMnxQOyb1E/s400/brochure_photography_03.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5168991967499354802" />
How to photograph geosynthetics

For all of the scientific benefits surrounding geosynthetic plastic it is still black plastic, which as you can imagine, makes it very difficult to photograph. I am going to tell you about the work that I did for GSE to produce their new sales brochure. This work included product photography, production photography and ideas photography or to describe this another way it is photographing unique selling points.

GSE produce three different types of geosynthetic plastic: smooth geomembrane, textured geomembrane and geo net. I will begin by telling you about the easiest product to photograph, textured geomembrane. Although this is one piece of plastic it has two different surfaces which reflect light to varying degrees. The splattered plastic that produces the textured surface reflects more light than the smooth underlying sheet. This means that you can shine an even light across the sheet and the resulting image looks like a black and white Jackson Pollock. To describe this another way, the picture is subtle but accurate product picture of textured geomembrane.

Smooth geomembrane is much more difficult to photograph because you can not put any texture or depth into a smooth surface. This means that any accurate product picture of smooth geomembrane will have to be achieved with a creative use of lighting. I used a snoot (an attachment that narrows the spread of a flash light) to shine a beam of light across the smooth geomembrane and varying the angle of the light changed its spread. The resulting picture is an accurate product picture of smooth geomembrane that has movement and direction which makes it dynamic.

The photographic dilmemmas surrounding geomembrane do not exist with geo net because it is not a solid surface. This means that it is very easy to clearly show the product. However with everything creative to merely show something is very simple but to produce a creative product picture of geo net is much harder. Unlike the gemembrane pictures which were taken in the studio the geo net pictures were taken in the factory. Showing the product in situ brings the manufactured reality to the pictures.

If you photograph the geo net coming onto a silver chill roll stack the light will reflect off the chill roll stack clearly showing the black geo net. If you shine one light above the net then you will get a shadow in the chill roll stack but the remarkable thing is that the shadow is a red orange colour and not the black that you would expect it to be. This gives some colour to an otherwise very black and white image.

Another way to photograph the geo net coming onto the chill roll stack is to fill only half of the frame with the chill roll stack. This results in a very striking picture with one half black and the other white. On the white side of the frame you will clearly see the black geo net product. On the black side of the frame you will only see glimmers of the geo net where the net is reflecting the light. The resulting picture has a very immediate appeal because of the obvious black and white divide. It also very clearly shows the product but it also has a subtlety that you only see upon closer inspection.

In addition to product photography this job involved photographing GSE’s unique selling points. This process began with a general conversation about the fact that GSE are the only international producers of geosynthetics. This was distilled down to the phrase unique global coverage. So how do you photograph something global. Partly because of the word I initially thought of a globe so started thinking about photographing something spherical. As I developed this idea further I thought of photographing something round. Sheet geomembrane comes on a roll and so to bring the picture back to their product I shot the end of a roll of plastic. To indicate that this round product represents the world I wanted to show the sun rising above the horizon. This was very difficult as you have to shine a light directly into the camera. To make the light refract and spread to look like the sun rising as opposed to a single beam of light also caused a lot of problems. The resulting picture showed their product with the rising sun but it does not clearly say global coverage. To make it clear that the roll of plastic represents the world I dropped a map of Europe over it. So why you may ask did I drop a map of Europe over the roll of plastic and not a map of the world. The reason is that this image and the resulting brochure will only be used by their European offices.

I hope that I have made it clear how it is possible to photograph something as challenging as black plastic. This product does not naturally lend itself to photography which is a blessing in disguise because it forces you to think creatively about the best way to show the product. Similarly photographing unique selling points will always be about the communication of ideas with images.

Portrait Photography Before The Day

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_58ojGceQ59s/R6rK9chtWUI/AAAAAAAAABw/GJWZKppC5NM/s400/portrait-photography-25.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5164163079712102722" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_58ojGceQ59s/R6rKzMhtWTI/AAAAAAAAABo/VQoVvHqbgfQ/s400/portrait-photography-02.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5164162903618443570" />

Portrait photography is the communication of your personality in your appearance. This is influenced by three things: the location of the shoot, the clothes that you wear and how you interact with the camera.

Environmental portraits tell the story of who you are and what you are doing in a single image. These can be taken candidly so the where you are and what you are wearing just happen by chance but it does not have to be this way.

Together we can think of a location that is significant to you or what you want to say about yourself. For example if you would like a picture of your son, and his thing at the moment is skateboarding then if the picture was taken where he skateboards then the picture captures a moment in time. Your son at this age doing what he loves. The picture says much more than, this is your son at age 11.

Similarly a corporate portrait needs to say something about your company. For example a company like Leisure Support Services provide maintenance and security for different sporting venues. Using these venues as the location for the shoot made the resulting pictures instantly recognizable to people while at the same time making reference to what they do.

The location of a family portrait needs to be somewhere that is personal to you. This will give the picture a weight and significance that only you will know. If it’s an outdoor location such as a favorite park or by the seaside then the portrait session becomes an experience and the pictures will capture a moment in time.

Rightly or wrongly people are judged by their appearances. Similarly the clothes that you wear for your portrait can make or break the picture. Let us return to the picture of your son by his skateboard ramp. If he is wearing brightly coloured, baggy sports clothes then what he is wearing gives an explanation to where he is standing. His clothes do not have to be complete with their normal dirt and rips, when he comes home but they must be clothes that will make the picture believable. If he was wearing a suit then it would be quite a surprise to see an 11 year old dressed like this but it would also make an incongruous image. A strange dichotomy between the boy in the suit and the skate park. This might be a picture that you would like to take in 15 years time but as a portrait of your young son you want his clothes and the location to tell the story of his interests at this age.

The same thing is true for corporate portraits. Returning to the pictures for Leisure Support Services. They do provide maintenance and cleaning at different sporting venues so I could have asked them to dress in boiler suits. However the resulting pictures would not have made them look like a trustworthy, professional company. You do not have to wear a suit for a corporate portrait but as a first impression a suit provides a professional feeling.

To drive this point home I would like to talk about a family portrait. If the portrait was taken by the sea I would expect you to be wearing different clothes and shoes to a portrait taken at the Ritz Hotel. What I am trying to say is that the choice of clothes that you make for a particular location should be the same clothes that you would normally wear. As a group it will give a sense of unity to the picture if you all wear similar clothes. This can be as subtle as everyone wearing jean. If everyone is dressed identically then you can loose the different personalities.

So two thirds of the picture has been agreed. The final consideration, which is the only thing that will haven on the day of the shoot, is how you interact with the camera. This sounds like something that you have to do but it isn’t. This is the photographers responsibility. He will explain to you what he would like you to do in a given space and all you have to do is enjoy it. A photographer can not make you have fun and he can not make you smile. He can help you to relax in front of the camera but the genuine smile has to come from you. If you have enjoyed your portrait session then you will be pleased with the pictures.

So just remember that on the day of your shoot two thirds of the work has already been done. All the decisions about what you will wear and where we will take the picture have been agreed so all you need to do is enjoy the experience.

Unique pictures in unique albums designed to your specification

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_58ojGceQ59s/R6rJH8htWSI/AAAAAAAAABg/7V1zZQ6OQXE/s400/cambridge_wedding_photographer_01.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5164161061077473570" />

Upon your return home from your honeymoon you will find a CD of pictures and a series of contact sheets waiting for you. As you look through the pictures and will undoubtedly start forming an impression of your picture selection for your album. The picture selection for our traditional album is a straight forward one. The album holds seventy prints so all you need to do is choose seventy pictures, let me know the order that you would like them displayed in and then I will make your album to your specification.

Please ask me if there are any pictures that you would like to see in black and white and if you would like some writing on the first picture in the album. If you let me know what you would like written on the picture then I can design the page and email it to you for your approval before the picture is printed. This enables me to present you with a unique album designed to your specification.

The multiple picture prints of the modern and unique packages offer a plethora of choice for the album design as it is not only a choice of pictures that you have to make. The design of each page is completely bespoke. You can choose the number of pictures and the position of each picture for each page. In addition to this you need to make decisions about the background colour for the pages.

There are those who welcome this amount of choice and there are others who find it daunting. To make this an enjoyable experience for everyone we ask you to make your decisions at a later stage. We will design all of the pages for your album and email them to you for your consideration. We ask you to make your choices at this stage because we have found that couples find it much easier and more enjoyable to make decisions based on something that they can see.

We are more than happy for you to make a change, see the results and then change your mind again or choose the original design. There is only one consideration that we ask you to make when changing the pictures. The pages were not designed in isolation but with the thought of how they will look as a double page spread. This does not force you to keep your picture selection in the same design that we have provided but it might cause you to make more changes than you thought.

This method of visual story telling does requires more decisions and input than a traditional album but your effort will be rewarded in a stunning album that is as bespoke as your wedding. Our combined effort will enable us to deliver our promise of unique pictures in unique albums designed to your specification.

Safe pair of hands

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_58ojGceQ59s/R57nlchtWKI/AAAAAAAAAAc/ChK3KxemCq8/s400/web_wedding_03.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5160816853511919778" />
Unique pictures in unique albums designed to your specification
Cambridge wedding photography

The difficulties of wedding photography and how to overcome them

Cambridge wedding photography

The purpose of this blog is to explain the three key elements for creative wedding photography and to then show you how these are relevant to the different aspects of your day.

Wedding photography is the communication of the emotions of your day with pictures. This is achieved through timing, creativity and empathy with you and your guests.

A photographer can not begin to be creative unless he is in the right place at the right time. The precise timing for the start of the service, reception, dinner etc should have been calculated and agreed before the day so that on your wedding day the photographer ensures he is running to schedule. Or if he certain things are overrunning he knows that there is sufficient time to deliver what he has promised.

Creativity is how the emotions of your day are communicated with pictures. This is knowing what elements are needed to best tell your story and then leaving out what is unnecessary. This does not mean that every picture will be tightly cropped. We know that showing your guests in your venue tells the story of your wedding day much more eloquently than a series of head and shoulder portraits.

Empathy for yourselves and your guests is very important. If the photographer can enable you to feel comfortable and to be yourselves in front of the camera then you will be able to enjoy your day and the photographer can communicate your emotions in pictures. At Angle Photographic we make every effort to capture the emotion of your day with the minimal of disruption to you or your guests.

Bride Getting Ready

Empathy is critically important when photographing the bride getting ready. Weddings are emotionally charged days but the build up and the waiting can be even more so. This emotion often expresses itself in two ways. It either turns outwards so the bride and bridesmaids are laughing and joking in a very loud and animated way. This situation is the easiest for everyone concerned as the photographer only needs to remain unseen to capture these memorable pictures. However this is not always the case and the emotion can turn inwards so every movement of the photographer is very noticeable and every time the camera clicks it is felt around the room. In this situation the photographer needs to try and take some pictures but not at the expense of making the situation more stressful. I have found that once the bridal party are ready, and there is still some time before they have to leave for the church that it is possible to help everybody to relax by engineering a situation. Something simple like getting the bride and bridesmaids to sit together and then take some time to help them relax. The first picture will be stony faced but if the photographer can talk to them and encourage them to speak to each other then their close proximity to one another often results in animated laughter that creates memorable pictures.

Groom Getting Ready

With the men getting ready there is not the same ritual of putting on strange clothes that are difficult to get into except if they are wearing cravats and no man knows how to pin a button-hole to his jacket. It is these areas where the Groom and his Best man are helping each other dress where they will be unaware of the photographer and they can laugh together at their inability to complete what appears to be a simple task.

There is often a degree of choreographed photography if all of the men are dressed the same. This involves creating a sense of order and camaraderie. Something that shows them smiling and laughing together. Asking them to stand like the football wall before a penality and then asking them to pretend that they have been hit by the ball. This is a great ice-breaker as they can all easily understand what I’m asking them to do and it always gets them laughing together.

This also gives you the choice of formal pictures and candid ones. Showing who was there in a very ordered way and in a relaxed way that honestly captures memorable pictures.

Service

I will always be by the road to capture Dad helping you out of the car. Then there is the short walk to the church with your bridal party. Try not to rush this as it can often provide some memorable pictures. A simple trick to help you smile if you are nervous is ask a joke question such as ‘does my bum looks big in this’.

Before the service I always speak to the Priest or registrar so that we don’t step on each others toes. We are both trying to do a job and if we can work well together it will give you a better feeling.

Photography in the service is dependant on the amount of available light in the room. I will never use a flash for any of the pictures during the service as it is too distracting for you and your guests. You want a record of what happened but not at the expense of a constant flash distraction.

Fast lenses and steady hands make it possible to get a good result in low light conditions. In addition to this I need to be patient to wait for the smiles and glances amongst yourselves that will show your intimacy.

The exception to this is the signing of the register. Priests and registrars ask photographers not to take pictures while you are signing the register, which means we have to fake it. This can be done successfully by carefully positioning yourselves and making it clear to you that slight head or hand movements can make all the difference between a stony faced picture and a relaxed one.

The memorable pictures that are possible to take during the signing of the register are the ones of your witnesses while you are signing and then pictures of yourselves while they are signing. These are often very intimate moments as you have just completed the purpose of your day.

Formal Portraits

The ideal formal portrait is one where everyone looks genuinely engaged with the camera. I have found that this is only possible when I make a mistake and everyone is laughing at that and I’ve had enough time to capture that moment. Unfortunately this is not something that I have learned how to replicate. What I can do consistently is gently organize people into an ordered formation that will produce a striking composition that clearly shows the faces of your guests. How you ask people to come and stand for a pictures is something that we do with delicacy. We will never stand and shout a list of names. What we will do is ask one of your guests for help. This is usually the best man or the maid of honor and we will ask them to help find the people that they know on the list. This care and delicacy is extended to organizing the group for the picture. We are aware that some people are camera shy but if they are asked sympathetically and with a smile, we can move them into a striking formation where you can see all their faces.

To make this process more formal and to give a more even result we can use portable studio lights. You will still have your venue as the backdrop for the portraits and the lights ensure that the group stands out from the background. The faces of your guests will be evenly lit ensuring that you can see all their faces without unwelcome shadows.

To try and avoid a portrait with peoples eyes closed we always count the group in to let them know when we am going to take the picture. Even this is not a fail safe so we always take two or three pictures of the same group.

With the smaller groups it is possible to get the people in the group to interact with each other. This is where the posed formal portrait can turn into a lasting memory. This can happen in the evolution of the portrait but it can also arise from an idea from one of your guests. In this circumstance I will assist you to get the result that you want. I am very happy with this situation as I want to get the best possible pictures for you and I am not so controlling as not to listen to the opinions of others.

Candid Portraits

Candid portraits provide you with a visual record of your reception. They eloquently convey the atmosphere of your wedding day as well as showing your guests in your venue. Unlike the formal portraits, which are likely to be taken in only one or two places, candid portraits can be taken anywhere and this subtly shows your wedding venue. The portraits are taken without the use of a flash to convey the atmosphere of the day. Taking pictures this way also enables us to record your wedding day without being noticed. This allows us to capture the genuine smiles and laughter of you with your guests rather than people only showing their teeth.

We work to ensure that you will have at least one candid portrait of each of your guests. This relaxed informal method of wedding photography frees you to spend more time with your guests, provides a more complete record of your venue and captures the atmosphere of your wedding day in memorable pictures.

Greeting your guests in the line

This is another opportunity to capture candid pictures of you and your guests. It is much easier than freely roaming as all the guests are in one place, which makes it easier to anticipate the emergence of the facial expressions that show your delight in seeing them.

Depending on the size of the line it is also an opportunity to capture your parents generously welcoming your guests to your wedding breakfast.

Speeches

The purpose of your day is complete and all your guests are well fed but they haven’t yet seen the best man trying to knife the groom. All jokes aside the experience of having your father and husband speaking so lovingly about you in front of all of your friends is a very emotional moment for any bride. The tears, the elation and the scowls are all captured in memorable pictures.

And so to the best man, the Mercutio in this play. The wit of his speech will be recorded on the faces of your guests and through the props that he brings.

Cake

I normally take the cake pictures twice. I’ll take a moc cutting of the cake with only the bride and groom to enable me to take a variety of pictures from different angles. Some showing the two of you with the cake but others just of your hands on the knife with the cake.

I will also take pictures with your guests because different guests calling for your attention can often create some facial expressions that show the joy of your day.

First Dance

Whether you have rehearsed a choreographed dance or you simply hold each other tenderly and lovingly Angle Photographic will be able to communicate your love in our pictures. Using a combination of wide angle images showing you dancing with your guests watching, and some closer shots clearly showing your intimacy mixed with the stage lighting we can create colourful pictures that convey the joy and love of your wedding day.

How to choose a wedding photographer

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_58ojGceQ59s/R57qI8htWLI/AAAAAAAAAAo/VB2n0-lXUYM/s400/web_wedding_16.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5160819662420531378" />

How to choose a Cambridge wedding photographer

At Angle Photographic we believe that wedding photography is the communication of the emotion of your day with images. This is only possible if you can trust and feel comfortable with your photographer.

At your initial meeting you need to know that you like the photographers work or style of wedding photography, that you can feel comfortable with him and that you trust the photographer to deliver what he has promised.

There are certain things to consider when looking at a photographers work. First is how is it presented. If you are going to receive a wedding album, are the pictures presented in that album. If the answer is no, then what he is showing you is not a fair representation of what you can expect to receive.

Secondly, does the album contain one wedding from start to finish or is he only showing you a selection of the best pictures that he has taken. Showing one wedding will give you a much better idea of what you will receive and it will show you the type of coverage that you can expect to fit into the album. For example in an album of one print per page can you expect it to hold the pictures of you getting ready and the pictures during the service as well as the group portraits that you had in mind and some candid coverage of the speeches and the reception. If the answer is yes then this could be the package for you. If the answer is no then you need to look at some other package albums that hold more prints.

Another consideration is does the photographer speak to you about the pictures explaining why he took them when he is showing you the album. If he does then it is another way of him displaying his experience and proof that he can deliver what he says.

Finally, there is the photographers’ style. Does he offer a candid modern style of wedding photography that gives a good impression of the day but do not necessarily have everyone looking directly at the camera or does he offer a more formal traditional style of wedding photography with a lot of posed portraits taken with a flash. If he offers both styles of wedding photography does he explain how these styles will differ in terms of your photographic experience on your wedding day and with the final presentation of your pictures in an album. His explanation will show both his experience and ability as a photographer. It will also show his consideration for your wishes of how you would like to remember your wedding day. It is important to remember that this is your choise so it is worth noting if the photographer tells you what he can do for you or if he asks you what type of coverage you are looking for. Does he suggest different aspects of the day that you might want photographed and most importantly does he listen to what you are looking for. If he is receptive to your wishes then you can be confident that you will receive the wedding pictures that you hope for.

The combination of looking at the photographers work and discussing the details and timings for your wedding day should give you an impression of the photographer. You will know if this is someone you can trust and work with. If you like your photographer and can have a laugh with him then the chances are that you will enjoy your wedding day. This will enable the photographer to communicate your joy and emotion with pictures and to deliver the pictures he promised.

Welcome to Angle Photographic

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_58ojGceQ59s/R57smMhtWRI/AAAAAAAAABY/HceK1XTMbwc/s400/web_wedding_03.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5160822363954960658" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_58ojGceQ59s/R57sfchtWQI/AAAAAAAAABQ/zQ73oPxCC0w/s400/portraits_individual_25.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5160822247990843650" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_58ojGceQ59s/R57sXMhtWPI/AAAAAAAAABI/WxysF4_t6oM/s400/commercial_brochures_04.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5160822106256922866" />

The purpose of this blog is to let you know who we are, what we do, and how we do it.

Who we are

Angle Photographic is a Cambridge photography business covering Weddings, Portraits and Corporate publicity. Although we are based in Cambridge we are happy to travel to you for your convenience. This is normally only down to London or across to Birmingham but it has taken us a far as Germany, producing a corporate brochure on the production of Geosynthetic plastics for GSE.

What we do

Angle Photographic is committed to communicating ideas and emotions with images.

We offer a bespoke service to facilitate your photographic requirements from the taking, viewing, printing and delivery of your pictures. This process begins with a discussion with yourselves to establish your ideas and objectives for the pictures. Once we have established what you are looking for we can tell you how we can communicate your ideas with images. We will ask about your deadlines and we can discuss the best way for you to view your pictures. This can be done using both print and web based viewing systems for your convenience. Finally we can discuss print sizes and framing and we can always show you examples so that you will know what you will receive.

How we do it

The principle that underlines all our photography is unobtrusive photography. This will be explained in greater detail in the specific blogs on cambridge wedding photography, cambridge portrait photography and cambridge commercial photography. The idea is that we know what we are looking for and we have the confidence to wait to capture it in it’s fullest expression. This might sound like an artists answer but the difference between a good picture and a great one is emotion. The genuine smile as opposed to someone just showing you their teeth. This genuine smile can only be captured if you do not know that you are being photographed.

This is not the case with portrait photography. In this situation the photographer has to engineer the result he wants with lighting but he then has to wait for the sitter to interact with the camera or for the group to interact with each other. It is not unobtrusive in the sense of the sitters being unaware of the photographer; rather the photographer has become unobtrusive because they are comfortable with him being there so they can be themselves in front of the camera.

For all this talk of what makes a good picture and how we achieve this we know that a picture speaks a 1,000 words. We invite you to see the difference in our approach and in the results that we achieve on our website:

http://www.anglephotographic.com
